When we joined forces with SoftBank in Japan last year, we said that we wanted to transform commerce in Japan and we were going to start first with PayPal Here. We have had a lot of progress since then to bring PayPal Here to the Japanese market and the response from local businesses has been fantastic. We’ve been selling PayPal Here through SoftBank stores since the fall of 2012 and have gathered valuable feedback from thousands of merchants using PayPal Here to steadily improve the customer experience and provide the highest quality product for the Japanese market.

The great news is that PayPal Here is now widely available in more than 2,700 SoftBank retail shops and through their business sales network across Japan, meaning that we can more effectively reach more than 4.2 million small businesses in Japan of which 80% do not yet accept credit card transactions. It turned March 1^st on Friday and my email exploded. It turns out that one of the credit cards that I use on a regular basis is set to expire on the last day of March and I was inundated with notices from online locations, as well as apps on my phone,  where this soon to be outdated info is stored.
At least I was given notice. Last year, I lost and cancelled a credit card. For months afterwards, I was finding out new places that had that card info stored and would not process my transaction. My gym membership lapsed; I was late getting a prescription fulfilled etc etc etc.
Now I work at PayPal so it’s no surprise that I think the answer is to use us everywhere. But the fact is, I just spent two hours over the weekend going through old credit card bills and then logging on to sites to update my credit card information, when if they all took PayPal, I would have just updated my card once in my account and be done. I could have spent the time wasted this weekend on more productive – or at least more fun – endeavors.
In fact, even if I had not updated that one credit card in my PayPal account. It’s just one of the ways to pay in my PayPal digital wallet, so my transaction would have gone through anyway.
We’ll be at SXSW this week so I hope that some of the developers in Austin will stop by our developer lounge and check the new tools out because I know that I can’t be the only person who has not been able to use my taxi app at the last minute or order a pizza online because my financial info was out of date.  My gym now takes PayPal so it looks like I’ll have to find another excuse to let that membership lapse.

How Online Payments Changed the Way We Spend

Long gone are the days when you had to go to the bank teller to withdraw the cash you needed for groceries, entertainment, clothes and other expenses. With debit cards, credit cards and electronic wallets, you can spend your money anywhere, anytime, without actually seeing it physically move from your hands to someone else’s. While this might not seem like a big deal, the move from cold, hard cash to digital dollars has actually had a dramatic effect on our spending habits.
In a March 2009 Family Circle article, “Where Is the Money? How to Control Electronic Spending”, Mike Peterson, cofounder of the American Credit Foundation, states “When you use cash…you know the money is finite. Electronic payments take away that tangible feeling of spending, so it’s harder to keep a lid on expenses.” This can not only lead to growing debt, but also to a growing disconnect between our earnings and our perception of how much we actually have to spend.

5 Ways to Limit Overspending

To help you re-establish the connection between your money and your perception of it, here are 5 points from the informative Family Circle article:

• View your bank and credit card statements regularly: This will help you track your spending, and get back that awareness you had when spending actual cash. There are many mobile and online banking options available that give you instant access to your account information.
• Pay your credit card balance early: Don’t wait until the last minute to pay your balance or monthly minimum as doing so only a few seconds late could lead to a late payback transaction. That could mean added late fees, higher interest and a hit to your credit rating.
• Open all of your mail from the companies you pay: If you make pre-authorized payments to a company each month, you should still make it a point to read all their notices carefully even if you feel they’re just junk mail. Service companies can easily overbill you and if you don’t check your statements, you’d never know.
• Say “No” to store credit cards: Even though you may get a small discount off the ticket price, you won’t really save any money because all that savings will disappear to high interest rates. It’s also important to note that the more credit cards you have, the lower your credit rating.
• Just use cash: Whenever you can, keep paying the old-fashioned way. Once or twice a month, withdraw the cash you’ve budgeted for items other than bills, this way you can make your spending and budget more tangible. You will tend to spend less with cash since you actually see the money leaving your wallet. You’ll also save money by not paying fees for every credit or debit card transaction.

Hello Folks,

Ok, a quick update on our new feature we have just released, the NO-Cost Trial DCU (Daily Commission Unit).

This is to help everyone regardless of their circumstances to begin earning with the TriDeci Daily Income system immediately, without having to make a purchase.

New members are automatically allocated one of these when they sign up. Its a Plan A DCU just as per the normal ones activated when you make an Ad Pack purchase.

To earn your commissions, you simply need to complete your Daily Task which is to surf your 10 sites, and your earnings are paid as per normal, 70% to your cash account, 30% to reserve purchase balance.
