In
most of the world, the third Sunday in June, which falls on the 17th of
June this year, is a day dedicated to our fathers. We consider
Father’s Day something worth celebrating and we’d like to help and
encourage our members to honor their fathers however they can.
Most people celebrate Father’s Day with the family, giving gifts to their fathers and spending the day together. But some countries have their own unique traditions, such as Germany, where it is less of a family occasion and more of an event for the men. On Father’s Day, which in Germany is sometimes called Männertag (men’s day) or Herrentag (gentlemen’s day), German fathers take the opportunity to get together with each other and take a load off. This is traditionally accomplished by going on a hiking tour, pulling behind them a wagon full of beer, wine or schnapps.
